"philly has no shortage of thrift shops—they’re everywhere. still, there is one boutique that makes a strong mark on the map: WILBUR VINTAGE the store looks as i imagine catherine baba’s closet: flooded in excesses, rich in color, and picked carefully by a hand influenced by either genius or opium. what makes WILBUR so engrossing though is its apparent relationship with the past and the present, and with the present and the future. the collection dances between its owner’s surreal rêverie and the inescapable reality that someone else, someone very kooky, once owned every feathered dress, every glittery handbag, and every cocktail ring that adorn the boutique’s walls. after all, a vintage store is nothing more than a museum of artifacts—relics of someone else’s life, a life that new owners will never know. however, we can become closer to these character’s through a visit to dan wilbur’s exotic, sexy, and surprisingly affordable collection in queen village. highly recommended."
